Superb image of aurora from Richard Pearce. In this scene the particles from the solar wind are coming straight down toward the observer so the display is overhead. It was taken in the pre-digital age (1991) on Fuji transparency film. He was imaging from The Moray Firth not far from Elgin - the exposures were roughly 20s using a Pentax SPF camera, 28mm F2.8 lens and 200 or 400ASA film. Moving to Scotland sounds a good move.
