Attingham Park MoonWatch April 2009
On the evenings of 3rd, 4th and 5th April 2009 members of the Shropshire Astronomical Society, in conjunction with the Society for Popular Astronomy, hosted a Spring "MoonWatch" event in the beautiful grounds of Attingham Park near Shrewsbury as part of the International Year of Astronomy.
The weather, although not clear throughout the event, ensured that some views of the Moon were seen on each night with the best night being on the Saturday evening when many other objects, including Saturn and the Orion nebula, were observed by many visitors.
During the three evenings over 300 visitors enjoyed views of the night sky through 20 or so different telescopes and binoculars brought along by members.
Special thanks must be made to The National Trust for allowing us to use the picturesque grounds of Attingham Park which proved to be an ideal venue.
