Moon
Our nearest natural neighbour in space, the Moon, has fascinated man for thousands of years. The lunar 'seas' (or 'maria') can be clearly seen with no optical aid. Turn even the smallest telescope or binoculars towards the Moon and you will be rewarded with spectacular views.
The Moon is covered with craters caused by may thousands of impacts over millions of years. A sobering thought when you consider that our home planet, the Earth, would have also been subjected to a similar bombardment only most of the evidence has been erroded by weather/water etc over millions of years.
