macholzkev2.jpg

The naked eye comet of January 2005. It appeared first in late December 2004 running up through Lepus, Orion and then via Taurus and Perseus passing the celestial pole. During the brightest moonless period around the 7th-9th January it shone as a fuzzy 3rd magnitude star in Taurus. Alas, the tail was something of a disappointment undergoing disconnection event just before the right hand image.

These images were obtained by Kev Wildgoose using an MX916 CCD camera and a 135mm lens.
