A view from the summit of Mauna Kea. Hawaii may be tropical but the top of Mauna Kea frequently has snowfall and howling gales. You then have to watch for lethal blocks of ice sliding off the domes and falling 30ft onto your head - one dented the roof of the car I was in. The air may be thin, but it is cold.
